For many years I have been intrigued with the "hidden" parts of people … those parts that few are aware of … the hidden part. That interest has led in the current development of my work, which explores not only those parameters, but also contrasts of the past and the present.
This body of work reflects my ongoing fascination with "deceptive appearances" and "pretending normalcy." Perhaps this fascination stems from my Southern childhood where such traits were instilled along with manners and cleanliness.
Through my obsession with bright colors and patterns, I seek to offer intriguing juxtapositions of characteristics inherent in everyone. Dichotomies of: wholesome — decadent; normal — abnormal; past — present; positive — negative.
